What is SSGC Sui Southern Gas Company
Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) is Pakistan’s leading integrated, publicly traded natural gas distribution company. The government of Pakistan directly and indirectly owns a majority of the company’s shares.
SSGC He has been engaged in natural gas transmission and distribution and installation of high voltage transmission and low voltage transmission systems in the franchise provinces of Sindh and Balochistan since 1954.
As a downstream company, the company purchases bulk gas from more than 24 domestic and international exploration and production (E&P) companies to supply its franchise areas. SSGC’s transmission system includes more than 2,500 miles of high-pressure pipelines ranging from 12 to 42 inches in diameter.
Sales activities in over 160 cities and towns and 3,800 villages in Sindh and Balochistan are managed through regional offices. During the fiscal year 2020-2021, approximately 343,664 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of gas was sold to approximately 3.21 million industrial, commercial, and residential consumers through a 48,254km distribution network.
SSGC operates the only Meter Manufacturing Plant (MMP) in the entire Southeast Asia, built under license from M/s. Itron, France. The factory produces G-4 and G-1.6 meters for local consumption and also exports some to overseas buyers. In fiscal year 2020-21, MMP produced 222,390 G-1.6 gas meters and 230,624 G-4 gas meters.
With the right combination of technology and human touch to ensure world-class customer service, SSGC operates 24 Customer Facilitation Centers (CFCs) across Sindh and Balochistan to address customer queries regarding gas.
Masu. SSGC-LPG (Pvt.) Ltd. is a fully integrated subsidiary of SSGC, which is engaged in the marketing and distribution of LPG throughout Pakistan. The subsidiary has existed since 2012. The SSGC is managed by an 11-member autonomous board.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer is appointed by the Government of Pakistan and is delegated by the Board of Directors the necessary powers to effectively manage the affairs of the Company.
